Melinda Dillion, the actress best remembered for her roles in the much-loved holiday film “A Christmas Story” and sci-fi classic “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” died Jan. 9, her family confirmed Friday.
Dillion began her storied career as an improvisation comedian with Chicago’s Second City comedy troupe after stepping in as an understudy for a sick Barbara Harris. In her first major role, Dillion debuted on Broadway as Honey in Edward Albee’s “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” That role earned her a Tony nomination in 1963 for featured actress in a play, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

I’ve already lost one sibling and he was my age now.
Apparently Dillon didn’t know they would cut the neck, so her reaction was completely natural.
“At my age, everyone is dying. I’m not afraid of dying but I am saddened by it.”
Yup, I’m right there with you. I expect the Grim Reaper to cut a wide swath with his scythe in the next five years or so.
One of Steve McQueen’s best roles. “Hello, Engine. I’m Jake Holman.”
Simon Oakland played a member of the San Pablo’s crew.
I don’t necessarily like Candace Bergen, but she was good in “The Sand Pebbles.” I think her best performance was in “Bite the Bullet,” a truly great movie and story.
“On the question, Teri Garr or Melinda Dillon?, I always picked Melinda Dillon.”
Teri Garr for me.
Teri Garr in her prime, absolutely.
“Teri Garr in her prime, absolutely.”
She was gorgeous.
So sad what has happened to her. Confined to a wheelchair, unable to take care of herself, etc. So sad.
I know.
Well here’s more of Teri in her prime.

I KNOW she broke the leg lamp on purpose! lol
yes, she leaves lots of laughs to be relived.
And, she used up all the glue on purpose.
Don’t cha know?
.
Yeah - I'm now down to my brother and our cousins.
We are now the 'senior' (ie: eldest 'surviving') members of the extended family now.
Great aunts, great uncles, grandparents, parents, aunts and
uncles are now all gone.
And that's three cousins now - not four.
Oldest cousin passed four years ago.
He started smoking cigarettes at age 19 and only stopped at
age 63 - when he stopped doing everything - including breathing.
Last time I saw him was at a family Thanksgiving dinner.
He sounded awful. I pulled him aside and tactfully yet
firmly stated - "You sound like he!! If you don't quit
the cigarettes, they ARE going to kill you!"
He didn't quit - and in a few more years they DID kill him.
His wife came home from work to find him in the easy chair -
blue and not breathing.
Nature's way of telling you that you WILL stop smoking - NOW.
Beautiful woman. Great comedic timing. I miss her work.
I swear though her and Lisa Kudrow look somewhat alike.
“I swear though her and Lisa Kudrow look somewhat alike.”
Yeah, they do.
Im 62 and a boomer. Born Nov. 1960
