Had a squad leader in ‘81 that went to Rhodesia under an assumed name for a couple of years after Viet Nam, still had his Rhodesian camo and pics from his time in Africa.

Hated communism.

One of the more interesting people I’ve met.

Jean-Pierre and his buddy Gilbert, FFL para retirees in S. Florida were a couple more cut from the same cloth.

All three were mercenaries after a fashion and I had nothing but respect for them, still stay in touch with Gilbert, met him when he did my tile, lol.

I used to go out in Biscayne bay on his sail boat with he and his girl friend, a S. African gal with a BPM publishing business who told me about evading trade sanctions against the RSA.

American mercenaries fought communism in Latin America and Africa, for Rhodesia and South Africa, for Savimbi, there was so much to do for the good guys.
