(Excerpt) Read more at youtu.be ...
Up – Up and Away is the debut album by American pop group the 5th Dimension, released in 1967 (see 1967 in music). The title track was released as a single and became a major pop hit.
Marilyn McCoo is still very much a hottie.
Can’t hear this and not help but remember Rush Limbaugh and the Condom Update…
Definitely a tune that brings back reminisces of a specific time.
Stupid song forces my brain to associate song with stupid TV show The Mothers-In-Law.
I hate this stupid song. It makes no sort of lyrical sense that I can see. It was sung by every singer on every variety or chat show for about a year and a half. I hate this stupid song. And let me say again I hate and have always hated this stupid song. Thank you.
Billy Davis Jr. Gotta be the luckiest man alive.
it is also Alan Harpers phone ringtone on Two and A Half men.
The Fifth Dimension also did a version for radio station KRLA (the rock blaster at 1110 kilocycles, not today’s conservative talk station at 870 kcs). They would sing, “Up, up and away, KRLA!”
I saw the title scrolling through threads a couple of hours ago and this damn song has been stuck in my head ever since.
Dang, I thought this was going to be a video teaching us how to imagine the 5th Dimension.
The singers are great, though.
I’ve been listening to a lot of their stuff recently. Nobody could do Laura Nyro’s songs better than they could.
I looked her up (Laura Nyro) - I didn’t realize she wrote so many hits performed by others.
Any 5th dimension song is a master class in vocal and instrument arrangement.
