they had a dog....unfortunately, they had no security nor any sense of protecting themselves....unlocked doors, people coming and going from this "party house" whatever that means....and being quite drunk.....

teach your children well......

Yes...having a dog for home security is a good idea. Just be prepared for lots of false positives.
