I don’t EVER remember seeing a bum begging in my youth. It seems to have exploded when the vagrancy laws were done away with. I am only 76 years old.

i don’t either.
they are everywhere here- sitting on the curb outside the bank, at the gas pumps, at major intersections, even inside the stores.
I was approached at a Walmart parking lot, mention it to my daughter who lives 30 miles away, and she had the same beggars the day before at her Walmart ( same sad tale)
I don’t give them money.
