Duke coach Kara Lawson said the teams played with a men's basketball for the first half of a loss to Florida State on Sunday.
The 16th-ranked Blue Devils lost to the Seminoles 70-57 in Tallahassee, Florida -- the team's second Atlantic Coast Conference loss of the season.
After her team beat Pittsburgh 53-44 on Thursday, Lawson ended her news conference by speaking animatedly about Sunday's game.
"This would never happen in a men's game. This would never happen," she said. "It's embarrassing for our sport."

Why would the balls be different? Shuddup and play woman!
Don’t both teams use the same ball at the same time in basketball? Or do they switch it back and forth depending on who has possession?
Why is there a women’s ball?
Embarrassing is when a 2 time NCAA PAC-10 Player of the year gets schooled by a guy that couldn’t make the high school team.
That’s what is embarrassing about women’s basketball.
But they told me there isn't any difference between men and women.
The difference is: Women don't have balls.
Regards,
Same ball, she’s probably just PMSing…
Women’s hands are generally smaller...
Women and men are different, as much as the left wants to pretend otherwise.
What’s unbelievable is that they played with the larger balls for an entire half and no one noticed?
I mean as a casual player, I can tell you instantly when someone tosses me a woman’s ball vs a men’s ball.
How is it NOBODY ON THE COURT NOTICED? Should have been evident almost instantly.
In 2017, the College of Charleston played ... and practiced with men's balls.
I got nothing but it is college.
“Lawson said assistant coach Winston Gandy went to the scorer’s table at the half to check on the ball when he realized what the problem was. She said the game officials changed the ball to start the second half.”
Why did they wait until half time to check? I mean what the heck.
ANY EXCUSE WILL DO.
There’s a women’s ball because those women want their own balls. Two, in fact! It’s pretty obvious!
Probably the first time most of those womyn ever saw a man’s ball.
and practiced with men’s balls.
Badum bam!! Sounds like a Johnny Carson skit….
So you’re saying that size matters?
Envy, I should have known. :)
They don’t allow their women to play with men’s balls
Well I guess it was a bit much to ask for FSU students to figure it out.
Gasp! Did she just assume the ball’s gender??
I always roll my eyes whenever someone talks about great women shooters. They better be great, smaller ball but same diameter hoop.
