Some things, one simply does not do. And when someone does them anyway, they are not to be tolerated at all.
Certain sorts of bad behavior need to be stopped when they’re seemingly minor; if they are ignored they will escalate into serious misconduct.
I had a coworker bite me on my butt once at work. I promptly grabbed the coffee pot which was on the counter and poured it on him, left the room and went to my boss’ office, told him I was leaving for the day, and if he wanted to know why, that he should go ask the guy I was working with. Oh, yes, and there were several witnesses.
I went back to work the next day as scheduled, stopped by the boss’ office first. He said he had spoken to the coworker and the others who were there. He told me I was right about leaving, and assured me it would never happen again. When I got to my work place, I was greeted by the guy, who apologized to me in front of everyone, and asked if we could move on. I agreed but kept my distance from him for the rest of my time there.
That’s how you nip sexual harassment at the workplace in the bud. Never a problem again.
