Cambell may have a PhD but that does not make him a ‘Doctor’

Good grief!!! The Ph.D. absolutely makes him a doctor. Did you never take history or Latin in high school? The Ph.D. is a doctorate in philosophy. It is the real doctorate. It is the first doctoral degree ever from the 1600's. The term doctor comes from the Latin word for teacher - not healer, surgeon or physician. The doctorate is an academic degree. The M.D. is a nouveau professional degree for physicians who wanted hundreds of years later a title that sounded fancier than physician or blood letter. Similarily, the JD is a nouveau degree for lawyers who wanted a fancier title.

It does a disservice to FR to have posts from people who don't understand the history or Latin derivation of terms, who somehow think the title doctor has something to do healing.

Besides—”doctors” sat back and took the demotion when large corporate interests/healthcare companies began groupibg them together with non-”doctors” by referring to them as mere “health care providers”.

So you admit that Cambell, while he may be entitled to use PhD title, he certainly isnt a physician.
