As a frequent visitor to Key West from Miami, I always kinds laugh at that scene on the dead-end bridge.
So,...we have a perfectly good highway that I’m on right now but they decided to use and old road that got washed out 100 years ago.

I’ve been down Hwy 1 twice. Once I was hitching down to Key West (in my wild youth). A hippy-looking couple picked me up, said it was illegal to hitchhike in Monroe county, gave me a ride about half way down, took a bus the rest of the way. The other time I drive down. That’s a LONG, LONG ride.
