IBM 029 Keypunch Machine.
We typed our first computer programs in 1972 in college on these.By 1976, I was using IBM Call 360/370, with terminal, pinfeed paper, and a phone in a cradle to transmit data.

Oh my goodness.....that looks like the exact model “computer” that I first used when the company switched over. It had to be kept in a cool room, closed doors and windows. The cards got fed into the slot on the left.....it was a beast!

I started in DP in 1967. Monkey Wards...IBM TAB machines...sorters;collators etc..learned how to wire boards - had a 51 column card sorter.
Became a 1440\1401 operator, then 360 operator \teleprocessing.
Back then operators were gods.
Came back from the service in 71 and they had 370s.
All the old operators became disk pullers or tape hangers or paper hangers.
I lasted a couple of months then johnny pacycheck’d them.

(Why does "fat chance" and "slim chance" mean the same thing?)
