Re: 33 - If people don’t drink Schultz, I’ll - l’ll kill them!

Hmmm - seems sort of catchy.

It’s especially sad to lose those who just entertained us and didn’t make a career of telling us what to think and how to live.

Schlitz was big in the East, never caught on in the West.

It was the #3 Beer nationwide, and of course the show took place in Milwaukee, where both Miller and Schlitz were made.

They were already in their downward spiral by then...a prolonged strike among the Milwaukee breweries in the early 1950s enabled St. Louis to take much of their market.

Michael McKean is alive. Was great in Better Call Saul.

That was a very sucessful show, on for 8 years.
I’m guessing that it’s not easy keeping the same main characters interesting for that many script years without transforming the entire story.

Not only that but transforming from greaser/diner/bowling alley 60s to weirdo awful fashion/lifestyles of the 70s was bizarre in its own right.

How many shows did Happy Days spin-off?

Laverne and Shirley
Mork and Minday
Joanie Loves Chachie

Those are the ones that immediately come to mind.

Yep, with television the sheer number of people who could be called “celebrities” exploded in the 1970s, and their turn is coming up, so you you’re probably right about that.

Ha! I was young then. Too young to notice any abrupt change.
Happy Days also had a mix both influences , at least their storylines often did.

“Schlitz was big in the East, never caught on in the West.”

I had uncle’s up in Illinois around Aurora and Crystal Lake and I had uncle’s and Wisconsin and they all drank Schlitz.

My dad could Pinch A Penny until Lincoln screamed... he was drinking Old Mill and Falstaff.

I don’t drink much, but I do like a cheap beer. I think I came by it honestly.

Its a lot more evident when comparing their 1st year shows to the last year of the show. :)
