After plowing thru the flatulent bio on wikipedia, I confirmed she has an Ed.D aka “doctor of education”. Both are terminal degrees but the Ed.d is practice-based and thus easier to get than a research-based PhD. But she is entitled to use the honorific.

I have two brothers with PhDs.
One in a hard science (hydrology) the other in “Education”.
(The rest of my brothers have a Masters. My sister and I just have a Bachelors)

They both agree that is it impossible for anyone with a degree in “Education” to be a ‘real’ PhD. The issue is lack of a deep mathematics education...

The funny part - to me - is that the Edu brother learned German to be able read/understand the primary source for much of his math studies. Turns out, Statisticians don’t make as much as teachers.... so, he turned to the dark side.

Yes and “doctor” means teacher. It's physicians who are the johnny come latelys to the prefix.
IMO the problem is that they made a “discipline” out of teaching. There's more difficulty in being an auto mechanic.
