If you are 59 1/2 or older, check with your HR department to see if you can move it to a self-directed IRA plan. This is formally termed an "in-service distribution". Just make sure you don't touch the money or it will be taxed. This must go directly into an IRA.
I did this about a year ago.
I still participate in my company's 401k to take advantage of the matching. But each time it get's to $50K or so, I move it to my private IRA.
