When I retire, those 3 Bs will be which boat, which bait, and what beverage.
Of course....we are not Day Traders....But I might be called a Swing trader,,,and most of the folks I talk to,,are the same.

If they provide matching at any level, well, take it! It’s free money, so don’t leave it on the table.
And I agree with the posters advising a cheap index fund, which will tend to have good results over time, and at present, minimize exposure to the ESG grift.
But if they don’t match, go talk to a financial advisor and find an IRA or Roth IRA on your own, where you can be the master of your own fate.
General rule on 401k - maximize the match. Some offer good choices, some not so good. Do more only as your guesses indicate - risk appetites and time ranges are personal.
Unfortunately, to my mind, not a good time for any of the major classes of funds - bond, equity or money market, so make your own guesses there. Time is on your side.
Strong recommendation - join the union even if it is voluntary. Companies usually end up with the unions they deserve. And if you get in a bind, you don’t want the union giving management a wink and a nod.
Low cost index funds. If you can’t think of anything else something with S&P 500 or some version of that in it.
Talk about inflation. I was a pharmacy tech in high screwl starting at age 16. It put me part way through college and I handed the job down to my sister and then brother. Walmart Pharmacy. Did it all but count the pills.
