Two of the smartest and most insightful commentators today, both of whom happen to be black, have spoken words of great wisdom about the outrageous behavior of the Memphis cops that beat to death Tyre Nichols. Both men cite culture, though one, former Detroit police chief James Craig, points to the culture of the Memphis PD and the local culture of the “Scorpion” unit – one that deals with the worst street crime, and the other, Jason Whitlock, points to the broader black culture.
Speaking to Tucker Carlson, Chief Craig (who kept the peace in Detroit while Minneapolis and other cities were burning after the death in custody of George Floyd) spoke of Antifa and other subjects, while criticizing the behavior of the cops – not just the ones that beat on Tyre Nichols, but the ones who stood by and did nothing to stop them and nothing to aid Nichols after his injuries. Organizational culture is a powerful force shaping and regulating behavior. It fills in the details of the rules and regulations that formally exist and creates a sense of what members of the organization “ought” to do. What their internal mental guide tells them is appropriate. It is usually shaped by the behavior of others that they observe, and then see rewarded or punished. It emerges over time and becomes uncomscious.
Also speaking to Tucker on the same broadcast, Jason Whitlock, whom I deeply admire for his genuine wisdom, had the courage to raise the issues relating to black culture.

There is a racial element. And this is a story about young Black men and their inability to treat each other in a humane way. Everybody involved in this on the street level was either 24 to 32 years old. Everybody. It was a group of young Black men, five-on-one. Looked like gang violence to me.
It looked like what young Black men do when they’re supervised by a single Black woman. And that’s what they got going on in the Memphis Police Department. They’ve elected some, or put some Black woman in charge of the police force, and we are getting the same kind of chaos and disunity and violence that we see in a lot of these cities run by single mothers.
If we want to discuss the breakdown of family that leads to disrespect for authority that causes you to resist the police and run from the police and not comply with the police, because you resist authority at all times, because there was no male authority in your home, let’s have that discussion.
I think Jason Whitlock pretty much nails it.
That one caused rarest wife to emote. He’s not wrong, but it took some serious balls to say it.
The problem lies with whatever f’d up standards were used to hire these ghetto gang bangers as cops.

A bit tangential to the story, but this is true in any organization, but SO TRUE in (the old) Twitter, Facebook, Google, Instagram, etc. It's also VERY TRUE in governments and universities.

on the program, “On Patrol Live”, on Friday and Saturday nights, one sees live over and over again across the nation where some fool runs from the cops after a traffic stop and then resists arrest, gets caught and arrested, and yet they never get beaten or roughed up and usually not even tased ...
the show features black cops, white cops, hispanic cops male cops and female cops ... the miscreants are likewise, black, white, hispanic, male, female, young, old ... all are treated the same ...

If affirmative action “inclusive” type policies were implemented to hire these 5 instead of actually selecting the best qualified candidates for the job well I submit that they got what they asked for.
I think the fault is the criminals. A lot of black person who live with them are very angry and it shows. If you are an officer you have to deal with this senseless craziness on a day today basis it reaches a breaking point.
There is nothing racist about this. Rather, rumor has it the victim was having an affair with a cop’s wife, thus the reason four (4) cops beat his ass into a pulp.
Don’t wanna get beat down by cops? Then don’t bang his wife behind his back on the sly while he’s on duty protecting your AZZ.

A friend of mine lives in Memphis and says it is hopelessly broken. The city is controlled by the (black) Ford family (funeral parlors). Harold Ford on Fox’s The Five is the face ... of corruption.
For of six has drawn a conclusion based on rumor. And then he condemns the dead guy to death. A Salem Witch trials type scenario. Not what Christ would say to do. The KKK might agree with 4 of 6. I do not Agree
I suspect the entire population of Memphis, including the entire local government, is like this. Everyone who is able to leave, such as well-off educated Blacks, has left. Those left behind are below average in ability and judgement.

If true, it becomes 1st degree murder and conspiracy, plus a whole slew of abuse of authority charges.

Its a problem of culture, but the opposite of how they imagine. America is transitioning to its 3rd-World culture.
America has gone from a constitutional, dispersed-power, local authority government, and generally Christian society — to a centralized, woke/neo-marxist, highly political government and atheist/confused society
We should expect our cities and police to look more 3rd world
Generally, much more violent, more street crime, apathetic and corrupt cops - UNTIL some aspect is made into a major political issue. Then heads will roll
