I had my hopes but ignored the story, waiting for the video or the truth to come out, and I was well aware of the theories because of seeing the thread titles and excerpts and hoped they would come to be true.
After watching the videos and listening to the 911 call, I realized this is a simple, clear-cut case of a nut breaking into the old man’s house.
If you read the threads you can see people still trying to build a fantasy tale out of this though.

Yes, the police bodycam showed a beer/soda can in his left hand. Pelosi was also trying to hang onto the neck of the hammer with his right hand while DePape tried to (and quickly did) pull it away, just before attacking Pelosi with it off cemera.
That was the initial description of what the police bodycam showed, that was responsible for the "homosexual tryst" theory. We now know that it was not an accurate description. DePape was wearing grey cargo shorts, not underwear. He is also seen wearing those shorts in the black-and-white home security video showing DePape outside the house hammering through the window, presumably before he entered the house.
