I was on a tin can. My rack was right under the gun mount and next to the autoloader
that went from the gun mount down to the magazine 1 deck down.
You could tell when they pulled the trigger by the sound of the autoloader going CLACK-CLACK-CLACK bringing the round up to the gun, and then BOOM!!
The air pressure would spike for a millisecond and your ears would ring for a minute or two.
I actually got used to it and "almost" slept through it.
And George Lucas should sue the Producers of Top Gun Maverick for plagiarism.

I always had a lot of respect for you Tin Can Sailors...I was up in the North Atlantic back in 1976, and I saw one of the Knox class vessels twisting, pitching, rolling, an yawing, and I couldn’t figure out how anyone could function on that!
LOL, on a carrier, you might bump into a bulkhead!
I was amazed at how used you could get to noise and sleep right through it!
