After 9/11 we should have put our fleet in the Mediterranean, landed an army in Morocco, and went east on a Sherman’s March all the way to Istanbul burning down everything within 50 miles of the ocean. Meanwhile Mecca should have been nuked.
Islam is Islam. A better idea is to remove our military presence from everywhere from south end of the Pillars of Hercules to the frontiers of Pakistan minus Baghram. The US Navy should be made to be overwhelmingly strong in the waters adjacent. Had we not relinquished Baghram Airbase it would have been the perfect pivot with Diego Garcia.
