Yeah, it's probably an outlier but I'm looking at trends. And right now, things are trending for Ron DeSantis.
Sure, Trump enjoyed a little bump after Biden got hemmed up in a classified documents scandal of his own making it much less likely that Trump will find himself criminally indicted. But that bump seems to have settled.
In the polls where Trump leads (which is most of them) those leads have closed considerably. Gone are the 30-40 point leads that Trump used to enjoy over DeSantis. They've been replaced by leads in the single digits and teens.
Yet I do believe if the primaries were held today, Trump would be the GOP nominee, and that's a shame because he'd fail to flip a single state he lost in 2020 and the Democrat nominee would trounce him. Even worse, Trump in defeat would take the GOP House down with him while leaving the Senate in the hands of the Democrat.
The only slight chance Trump has at winning is if the Democrats are stupid enough to run Kamala Harris at the top of the ticket. And they're not that stupid.
Fortunately, the primaries aren't today so there's still time to turn this ship around.
“...Trump would be the GOP nominee, and that’s a shame because he’d fail to flip a single state he lost in 2020...”
So, you are saying you believe 2020 was a fair and honest election??????
So, sounds like you’re in the anyone but Trump column. I don’t think De Santis has as much national appeal as you think he does.
Trump has a much better chance in ‘24 than De Santis, IMO
