We are going through a similar situation with my mom’s house. Flooding.

Rule of thumb. Document and photograph everything.

All-State dragged their feet with getting a company of their choice to do water mitigation. Then the mold started. I raised hell with them and said I wanted Servpro.

Servpro handled the “pack-out”(and storage), dumpster, water/mold mitigation, and opening up the walls to dry out.

They will also move the items back in once restoration is completed.

It’s hard to do that when they’re moving fast to bag up and throw out perfectly good stuff unaffected by either fire or water.
Literally new still in package /still in store bag things.

I am going to get mauled by them.

I dropped Allstate auto insurance years ago when they attempted to rip me off. I had sold my car and was carless for a year or so. When I bought another car, Allstate tried to put me (never had an accident) into the costly high risk pool because I'd been "uninsured" for a year. If you don't have a car, you don't need insurance. And why should I pay those high rates for not having a car? I dumped Allstate like a hot potato and never looked back.

I wonder if Habitat for Humanity could help out rebuilding Salamander's home?
