Absolute bull crap. While credentialism is a problem, Shapiro’s motivation is to increase the size of government. Lowering standards makes it easier to hire more rejects from the private sector. The focus should be a combination of work experience and appropriate education. Education requirements should exclude everyone with a “studies” degree or Ed degree. What’s needed is real business and tech degreed people that have a proven record of success in the private sector. Any employment in government should be limited to a maximum of ten years. People can do their stint in government and then go back to the private sector.

Government is not a place to become rich or create a retirement plan. No more pensions. If government employees want to save for retirement, then let them do it with their own money. By the way, it’s possible to retire from the Commonwealth with guaranteed monthly pension income greater than the salary made while working. It’s time to reduce the number of lazy ass government employees.

Good points and thanks for your insight. What I’m hoping for is this wakes up private businesses to follow suit....It usually does. But I see your point.
