My family owned a lumber remanufacturing plant. I worked there for 8 years in the 1980s. It was a tough time to be in the lumber business anyway. When we ran a spiked rough piece of wood usually a 4x6 or 4x8 through our resaw it would send a lot of shrapnel flying. Most of it got caught by the guards on the machine but not all. Some would hit the person feeding the machine and sometimes the person who was stacking wood behind it. No one was seriously injured at our mill, but that was just luck. They sometimes did a lot of damage to the big bandsaw blades.
I used to hang glide near Morton Washington. Sometimes drunk out of work loggers looking for a fight would make the assumption that all people flying hang gliders were owl lovers. This created a few tense situations.
May they be caught in the act and shot on site.
