That was a robot which the cops had just thrown inside. He picked it up and walked to the door with his hands up - with it in his hand. But, it belonged to the police. They had just thrown it.
A robot? Really? Wow... so this was a standoff going on for a while then? I was under the impression they woke him up and this was him stumbling to the door in that first 30 seconds.

DesertRhino is right about effective and correct Police methods and procedures. If police use robots to determine there is no immediate threat, they should immediately order all officers to stand down. And they should especially expect that a person might pick up one of their little toys which clearly had a light on it.
This is a horror. There but by the Grace of God...
