Ah, a proponent of forcible vaccinations, got it.
Did you know humans develop permanent immunity as time goes by. Most people are immune and passed it to their kids and grands, for most communicable diseases. What moms are immune to is passed to the children. It is why humans are still on Earth. Those who aren’t naturally immune die off and leave the strong ones. With vaccinations we are building humans with no natural immunity, so the theory goes.
Like with Polio, it died out because people survived and became immune. The rates of polio deaths dropped before the vaccines, the same happened with measles.
Polio did not die out. It’s endemic in Pakistan and breaks out regularly in shithole countries with low or no vaccination. And it circulates in US sewage regularly because of illegal immigration. We just don’t have outbreaks because we have high levels of vaccination for polio because it’s one disease parents are still scared of.
I don’t support any mandatory vaccination by government authority.
I am perfectly fine with daycares and schools requiring them and telling parents to find a new service. Life is all about choices and people should always free to make them. School choice should be a thing also.
I just think some vaccinations are good choices. Shingles vaccination is a great choice for people over 50.
I'm old enough to remember when kids were stricken. My best friend's dad was paralyzed from the waist down. Kid in our grade school carpool had the heavy iron braces on his legs -- to see him try to run on the playground was heartbreaking - I can still see him in my mind's eye struggling to keep up, that lurching gait, elbows pumping, but still keeping a smile on his face . . . so pitiful. He was killed in a car crash when we were all in our early teens.
It was very bad, and that is a GOOD vaccine (some are. Some aren't. And some people should get some, and others not. I'm not an absolutist.)
And measles can absolutely kill. Read this:
