The possibility of a big COVID-19 rebound in China over the next two or three months is remote as 80 per cent of people have been infected, a prominent government scientist said on Saturday (Jan 21).
The mass movement of people during the ongoing Chinese New Year holiday period may spread the pandemic, boosting infections in some areas, but a second COVID-19 wave is unlikely in the near term, Wu Zunyou, chief epidemiologist at the China Center for Disease Control and Prevention, said on the Weibo social media platform.
Hundreds of millions of Chinese are travelling across the country for holiday reunions that had been suspended under recently eased COVID-19 curbs, raising fears of fresh outbreaks in rural areas less equipped to manage large outbreaks.

The U.S. got through this in January 2022 with the Omicron variant. We got lucky that it was mild. It appears to be the natural vaccine. We haven’t seen other variants since then.
Two million dead and rising in China - best estimate. This is the total excess deaths since the start, half a million in the initial Wuhan outbreak alone. Still lower than India, the Economist study estimated 3-5 million total excess fatalities in that nation.

What if this COVID-zero policy of China’s was simply a technique to provide timely demonstration of how “dangerous and scary and hugh and series” COVID is at the right time.
The right time being when people start getting suspicious about that vax and all their friends dropping.
About 3/4 of that 1.1 billion. Pandemic!
