Does being an indentured servant for seven years count for reparations? I have an ancestor who came to America from Scotland who was a prisoner of the crown. He was sold into indentured servitude instead of going to prison. I’m pretty sure that was his choice and he took it. I can only image it was a pretty horrible existence. He worked along the New River just as land was being cleared for plantations. I assume it was stinking hot and humid with plenty of mosquitoes, but that was before global warming. /s Anyways, it has profoundly affected my life. I still suffer being a victim everyday of my life. I constantly wonder how much better my life would have been if he was a plantation owner. The man is still keeping me down.
