You first know it's going to bloom when an incredible fragrance begins to fill the house. Strong, sweet and unique. Then you search and find the first opening bloom. It's night and there will only be a few hours to enjoy the sight and smell. The moment the bloom starts to fade, the fragrance disappears completely.

That’s a beautiful flower. When the bud is closed, it resembles a succulent type of plant, one that is soft textured and full of water. When fully open, the flower resembles the
purple crocus flowers that grew in my family’s garden where I grew up.

I recall reading a novel where the Egyptian King had a garden planted on an outside balcony. The garden was in shape of a clock. Each hour in the day held a flower that would bloom during that hour. This included nightblooms.

Thus, when kidnapped maiden was looking for a way to escape the King’s palace, she used that Hour-Garden to conclude it was still too early to make a run for it, because the Datura or Moon Flower was only partially open.
