One of the best explanations for the Watergate burglars was that Nixon wanted to know what the Dems had on him, like his connection to the JFK assassination. Biden took classified documents when he left office as VP, so he suspected that Trump had done the same, and he wanted them back. Now Biden can classify or reclassify any docs he wants with reduced concern they will be leaked to the media. I expect that Trump was smart enough to anticipate something like this and moved important docs elsewhere.

Just some speculation here. As VP he is going to have a SCIF at the VP residence at Annapolis and likely a SCIF at one of his properties in Delaware. This is likely where the documents got “lost”...
