You are pursuing a logical fallacy. I'm sure we can agree that we are NOT equal to other animals, either genealogically or theologically. God made that decision a long time ago when He put Adam in charge of the Garden.
Note that logic itself warns us that to share some pattern with another creature is not to be equal to him. A man is not equal to a reptile because both breathe oxygen. Rather, it shows the transcendent importance of oxygen, if we want to understand life on earth.
As to male and female, the author is pointing out that sex is so far-reaching and fundamental--unlike what the wokesters try to tell us about our children--that the patterns leap out at us even in monkeys, who are NOT us. The example is helped by the fact that monkeys can look like parodies of ourselves, and sometimes show parallel behavior patterns. But the comparison only works because we aren't monkeys!
