Were you Sixth Fleet when you were in the USN??
I was indeed. It was an interesting time slice for a peacetime US military. After Vietnam and before Reagan. Carter. That time.
I learned a lot in those four years. I decided I didn’t want to make a career of it, but it was the most valuable education I ever received in my life. It is the reason I love this country. I feel gratitude for having that opportunity.
And it was an opportunity open to every American, to serve, learn, and get a jump into life out of High School.
And why I struggle so much to see the damage being done to our nation. I feel a lot of anger, and that hasn’t been a driving force for the vast majority of my life. I don’t care much for it.
