You know what you don’t hear too much about anymore? Incandescent light bulbs. The LEDs are cheaper to operate by far, provide better light, and are longer-lasting.
I think once people meet induction cooktops, they’ll stop caring so much about their gas stovetops. Also, no one is coming to your house to take your stove. The better technology will just be what gets sold and installed, and the old, inferior tech will fade away. I haven’t seen a Stanley Steamer on the highway in ages.
And when everyone is charging their electric cars, and the government smart meters turn off your home’s electricity input to cover the demand, so sorry about that dinner you were cooking. Or the load of laundry you were running. Or the air conditioning you were using.
It’s about CONTROL, which you seem to quite OK with them taking over you. Wake the F up.
How do you flame off sauces with induction cook tops ?
Then government doesn't need to promote any particular technology, do they? Yet somehow, they still do - more and more actually.
If they approached the issue on the basis of efficiency they would convince more people than by using a green energy scare tactics. But enviro-nazis don’t care to persuade, only to force compliance with mandates created by The Smart People.
Ditto. We have had an induction stove for over 20 years and love it.
Even better instant control than gas and safer.
I won't have gas indoors on the property.
The phrase "blowed up real good" comes to mind.
The market eventually did produce LEDs, and chouce won over, but lets not let go of inconvenient acts, shall we?
Then again, given your history here, that's what you're all about.
I’ve used an induction cooktop and it did not offer me as fine a temperature control as a comparatively priced gas cooktop. They also cycle on and off like electric stoves instead of providing steady heat. I’m not impressed.
I see Stanley Steamer in the neighborhood quite often. As a matter of fact...they’re parked in our driveway about twice a year.
“I think once people meet induction cooktops, they’ll stop caring so much about their gas stovetops.”
Disagree. I’m on my third induction cooktop, and they SUCK. They die catastrophically, i.e. I don’t lose just ONE burner, they all go out but one. Have two others with only one working burner. WE want to go back to a gas stove because it’s vastly superior.
Yeah well I am still upset about tube tvs. And I want a gas operated vehicle. There is nothing wrong with gas. There is not enough electric.
As far as incandescent vs LED...the government didn’t give us a choice, did they? Just outlawed incandescent. Sure, you could buy industrial version of incandescent at higher prices. And then we weren’t really getting LED at the time...just those nasty little CFLs.
And, the government won’t “take” your gas stove...just force gas companies to shut down. No gas, no gas stove. See how that works?
I had an induction cooktop (aka glass top) and hated it. You can’t use cast iron cookware on it. The temperature won’t stay stable. Then the power control (knobs) started failing. The temperature would runaway. Luckily I was in the kitchen each time it happened. If not it would have probably caused a house fire. I didn’t dare leave anything simmering if I wasn’t in the kitchen. By the time I replaced the 3rd controller I could have almost bought a gas stove. The glass top is also hard to clean and scratches. They are for people that don’t really cook much.
Any “smart” technology can be hacked.
I think once people meet induction cooktops, they’ll stop caring so much about their gas stovetops.
Apples and oranges comparison. LED light bulbs are much cheaper to operate. Heating and cooking with electricity is much more expensive. Personally, I have no interest in any electric stove, induction or otherwise. Same goes for electric heat.
“better technology”?
Isn’t that code for “doesn’t work worth a damn?”
I have scores of 4-pack bulb containers. Probably will not exhaust them all in my lifetime.
If it actually is better, it will happen without government interference.
But it’s not actually better. I cook and I would never replace my stove top with induction.
Induction has it’s uses, but it doesn’t work as well as a stove top for cooking. When you need to adjust the heat quickly, you can cut or increase the flames on a gas top, but with induction the temperature has to drop or increase gradually.
