I liked the Sound Recorder on XP. Very basic but it worked great for recording clips of music simply.
Yeah, I miss that old XP Sound Recorder too. But, these days I mostly use Wavosaur. Wavosaur is simpler than Audacity by far, but not too simple. Except that I wish they’d add an input volume control for each channel independent of the Windows’ volume controls.
(That comes with a caveat: I have not tried the latest Wavosaur, V 1.7.)
