I was flying in a club out of Lakefront but the drive was awful.
A one-plane club opening came up about two miles from my house. I tooke the check ride and the pilot told me to:
1. Do not put it into the adjacent canal used by the seaplanes
2. Say under the NAS controlled airspace on takeoff.
I reserved the plane for a flight the next week. Three days later I was informed the plane was not available. Someone had violated #1.
Sounds line a crosswind got it.
My sis and I were partners in the Tee-Pee with a grain handling/storage sales and installer. Our farm was about 20 miles from his home, and the county strip almost halfway between us. He didn’t use it much, but when he did, it was to be CLEAN, and in the airport hangar. That was fine until he wanted to trade up, and sis wanted out after moving 130 miles away. He bought us out.
That was the end of the free unannounced neighborhood airshows I put on. Chasing an imaginary foe through the trees (like the down low dogfight in the Blue Max) was a blast, but I never did it when my parents were home. They found out though and put a stop to it, so I had to resort to hit and run tactics: buzz through a wooded pasture miles from home once, then look for another location. Fun while it lasted. Smashed a lot of bugs.
