Car battery power can be used to power house heat pumps.
Cold weather ahead, car battery now fully charged!
On the EV forums the folks with new EV's are bragging about how they used their EV to handle power blackouts. Most of them using V2L (vehicle-to-load), which isn't directly tying the car into the home power supply or electrical panel (like Ford advertises the F-150 Lightning can do). The V2L technique just exports power to a simple 120V outlet attached to the car to power things like a portable backup generator does so they can run a space heater and such. LOL
Funny then none of them talk about how using V2L drains the battery and leaves them no charge left to go get groceries after the storm clears unless the grid power comes back on. LOL
New EV battery : $8,000.
It will be interesting to hear your report in the next month or two. You are fully charged, but what will it be like when everyone else is drawing down the grid during the colder months to come? Please take notes for us. Also, watch what is happening in Switzerland. They are having forced rationing of electricity because they cannot keep up with demand. Travel has been severely restricted. So it will be interesting to see how your experience compares with theirs.
You can also use your Car battery to restart your furnace if you lose power.
Do you feel guilty using the roads and not paying taxes for their upkeep?
