I think many people evolve to that position, the Republicans betray their voters time after time and eventually people see them for what they are and become more independent thinkers over time, it’s called experience, wisdom, etc...
Yes, as we grow older many people evolve. I was the way I am now when I was a kid. Always went my own way.

Why did you just limit this to the GOP? And every year new conservative parties appear when someone doesn’t like what they have like the American Reform Party and the Progressive (”Bull Moose”) party.
Most people I think sway their support for the parties that full fill a majority of their wishes but don’t like any of them completely. This is why we have liberals in the conservative parties and conservatives among the liberals. In the conservatives we have voices like Sen. Lisa Murkowski and Sen. Susan Collins. Current “Blue Dog” leaders in the Democrats include Rep. Ed Case and Rep. Stephany Murphy.
And all of the leaders betray their voters and the country on a regular basis. Sometimes trading off to get something...bartering. So limiting to one of the many different parties in the US is not touching all the bases.
