I think you would have a hard time finding anyone who doesn’t consider himself an independent thinker.
“You don’t identify with any particular political or religious views“
Stopped reading right there. Fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. My critical thinking skills dumped this article.
“4 is BS but other than that she pegged me to a “T””
Agree. It should be rewritten as
“4. You don’t BLINDLY (uncritically) identify with any particular political or religious views”
We all have our biases. That isn’t the problem.
The issue is whether those biases are grounded in reality.
Our biases (prejudices) are very important to our survival, if they properly reflect reality.
I’m biased against lions, when it comes to them getting too close to me. Same with some random pitbull I may run into.
You know a fake impeachment when you see one.
You know a fake pandemic when you see one.
You know a border invasion when you see one.
You know fiat currency when you see it.
You know Arkancide when you see it.
You know a stolen election when you see one.
You know a brain-dead imbecile when you see one.
You know a false flag op when you see one.
You know a crime family when you see one.
“I think you would have a hard time finding anyone who doesn’t consider himself an independent thinker.”
I completely disagree. Most people are herd followers and celebrity followers to the extent they wouldn’t even understand the question (Are you an independent thinker?). In addition the majority of people are go along to get along, and are uncomfortable with conflict and cognitive dissonance. So they follow the crowd.
So you never questioned your beliefs?
It might be blind faith in the beginning but many of us, probably you included, get plenty of confirmation along the way it is correct.
Absolutely!
And people just think I’m a meany for not automatically agreeing with them and their KNEEJERK reactions
“ Most people are herd followers and celebrity followers to the extent they wouldn’t even understand the question”
We just witnessed an entire week of herd mentality with on the collapsing NFL player which continues as we speak. Exploiting it for all its worth and simpletons are lapping it up
But it SHOULD mean, that we don't lap up any article from GP, American Thinker or other bottom-feeding "new conservative media" outlets that routinely get it wrong.
Or worse, that we don't do proper due diligence before hitting "Post". Recently, someone posted an article Philly man freed after 25 years on death row is shot dead at funeral. Almost every post was a virtual dance on this man's grave...it was a local low.
I don't know why almost everyone assumed the guy deserved assasination, but I had my suspicions. Maybe they all collectively thought anyone released from jail did something wrong and prolly deserved it.
The main article was poorly written, so after some due diligence it turned out the man was jailed wrongly - prosecutorial misconduct.
So much for independent thinking.
Independent thinking, when overcome by Affinity Bias, is bad.
Agree.
I’m not sure I get your point..
If you are saying that one can be an independent thinker and still be wrong - I agree.
On par, I still think independent thinking achieves far, far better results than trusting the “experts” - if for no other reason - because life is a competition, and people will pose as experts in order to take advantage of trusting souls.
