“Any candidate for Speaker Of The House that does not pledge to take a chain saw to government spending should be dismissed out of hand.”

Just as long as you know only about 20% of the electorate agrees with you.

And after two years the American people will run you out of town on a rail.

By and large the American people give only lip service to balanced budgets, spending, borrowing and deficits.

But if you actually start cutting where the bulk of money is spent, a firestorm awaits.

True. The democrats, media, & voters will be “champing at the bit” to vote the bums out.

The $1.7 trillion discretionary spending bill, which had a ton of military spending already passed, so the rebels can act like “tough guys.”

Over $4 trillion of the Federal Budget is mandatory spending that would need Congress to pass a bill to change the automatic spending. This part of the budget has things like Social Security and Medicare in it.

I am pretty sure that the bulk of the budget these days is servicing the debt.
