I’m assuming fractions and percentages are no longer taught in about 4th or 5th grade? The more I learn about what they AREN’T teaching in schools these days, while at the same time learning what they ARE teaching, the more I’m convinced the Dept of Education needs to be disbanded and school control returned to the local community. Just by-pass State control as well and let each county locally decide the curriculum for their school.

They are being taught. But now many school districts are mandating the use of calculators in math classes. Please see my post #54.
So a student could tell you 4/5 = 80% with the help of a calculator. But without one, nope.
