Interesting. I heard a cardiologist call into a sports radio talk show this afternoon—not a paid spin doctor, just a working cardiologist.

And he said just that, that in a case of commotio cordis, the player would not have been able to stand up for those few seconds after the hit as Hamlin did.

Interesting.
I had never heard of this phenomenon, but today my daughter showed me the under jersey with “armored breastplate” that my grandson (age 11) who plays baseball and football has been wearing.
