He looks really, really tall in that picture but not over 9'.
Grandma would have had no problem measuring his height. She would have stood him against the wall, stood on a chair, and made a mark on the wall at the top of his head. Then she would have had Grandpa get his tape measure. She did it for all of us grandkids, except she didn't need the chair.
