Scottsdale Cuts Off Water to Local Town Amid Drought

Scottsdale Mayor: ‘The mega-drought tells us all — water is not a compassion game’

PUBLISHED: JANUARY 17, 2023 | BY ADRIAN NORMAN

Homeowners in Rio Verde are resorting to skipping showers, flushing toilets with rainwater, and doing laundry at friends’ homes in an effort to conserve water.

The roughly 700 households in Rio Verde are largely dependent on water purchased from the nearby city of Scottsdale.

But, Scottsdale officials have now cut off the stand pipe supplying Rio Verde’s water, saying they need to conserve water for Scottsdale residents as part of the city’s Drought Management Plan.

In a statement released by the City of Scottsdale on Jan. 16, officials say Rio Verde is a community governed by Maricopa County, not Scottsdale. City officials also say they’ve warned Rio Verde for years of the potential for water cuts as part of its drought mitigation strategy.

Authorities have ceased allowing water haulers to transport water outside of the city, meaning the water haulers Rio Verde has relied upon need to find another source.

“Nothing in the city’s action precludes residents in Rio Verde Foothills from purchasing water from other sources,” Scottsdale officials say. “The water haulers who have previously hauled water from Scottsdale have access to water from other jurisdictions and are still offering to haul water to serve the homes in Rio Verde.”

City officials added that Scottsdale have a 100-year supply of water certified by the Arizona Department of Water Resources and that the supply only covers “the city’s population buildout — it does not account for residents outside its service area who are not connected to the City’s water utility delivery system.”

Arizona’s water supply issues, however, may be more troublesome than previously thought. Newly elected Gov. Katie Hobbs recently unsealed a report showing that Phoenix’s West Valley is short of its 100-year supply of water required by law.

Good morning, Gran!

Thanks for this ping. Hubby and I were discussing, last night. He cannot believe these (Rio Verde) folks signed on to such an absurd situation, when they built these homes that require UNDERGROUND water storage tanks, per home….and, must be refilled, repeatedly, to begin with.

What could possibly go wrong…..has!

We looked at a house that used a small stream for water. That looked like a possible disaster in the making! We are on city water now, which is pricey - but it won’t run out.

Look for Hobbs to declare a moratorium on home building citing water shortage as the reason.

Harriet Tubman Honored With Statue Of Her Left Big Toe

https://babylonbee.com/news/harriet-tubman-honored-with-statue-of-her-left-big-toe

https://freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/4124144/posts

AUBURN, NY — Following the new tradition of erecting disturbing modern-art monuments for prominent historical figures, the city of Auburn has unveiled a bronze statue of abolitionist and Underground Railroad leader Harriet Tubman’s left big toe.

“We felt that this was a fitting tribute for the great Harriet Tubman,” said Brandon Quezada, chairman of the city’s Artistic Initiatives Committee. “Knowing that Boston was unveiling the unspeakably creepy ‘The Embrace’ statue for Dr. Martin Luther King that bears a striking resemblance to various human organs mashed together in an ungodly chimeric abomination from the pit of hell, creating a monument depicting Ms. Tubman’s left big toe and nothing else for some cryptic reason seemed like the right move.”

The city, which became home to Ms. Tubman and her family following the Civil War and also serves as her final resting place, was expecting a large influx of tourists this summer due to the presence of the new statue. Already considering re-branding the city’s official nickname to “Toe Town,” officials were excited to take full advantage of the publicity the monument was sure to attract.

Citizens of Auburn seemed less enthusiastic. “If you’re wanting to honor Harriet Tubman’s contributions to the abolition of slavery and the leading of slaves to safety via the Underground Railroad, why would you choose her big toe?” asked Auburn resident Brian Pillman. “Any why the left big toe, specifically? Is this some weird political statement?”

At publishing time, other reports from around the country indicated that this movement would continue, with Boston looking to unveil a statue of Paul Revere’s tonsils, Montgomery, Alabama making plans for a monument depicting Rosa Parks’s spleen, and Tuskegee University announcing the placement of a statue of Booker T. Washington’s right kidney.

If Marjorie Taylor Greene tried to pass a law stating that black people can’t criticize white people, there would be endless cries of “white supremacy.”

So why is Sheila Jackson Lee allowed to do exactly that in reverse?

Major announcement: Wisconsin governor (D) Tony Evers has severe dementia. The Lt. Governor even had to swear in the cabinet. Here we go again: this is election fraud as it is without question the powers that be KNEW Evers had severe dementia before the Nov. 8th 2022 election....

Governor Evers step down now. First, as an obligation to our state, to our citizens. Second, for your own health to obtain the care you need. Next, who all knew this before the Nov.8th, 2022 election yet kept it quiet? People who know: publicly name names.

If the GOP tries to sabotage Trump in 2024, he could always just run as an independent.

It would be a wonderful way to put the nail in the coffin of the corrupt GOP establishment on his last big Hoorah.

He has the name ID to do it too.

At Least 16 Virginia Schools Allegedly Withheld Merit Awards From Students

Attorney General Jason Miyares condemned the schools’ actions as the state launched an investigation over alleged Anti-Asian bigotry.

The progressive concept of “equity” is a rejection of the equality of opportunity and a commitment to equality of outcome. Let’s be frank. This is communism, and it’s antithetical to everything the United States of America was founded upon.

I saw a report yesterday that the schools had hired an “equity expert” who was paid $455,000 for this advice.
