I had a friend in the 90’s, worked for the VA, carried one of those in his car. What a monstrosity.

I did have a cell phone like that. Mine was in a heavy duty nylon carry bag with a shoulder strap and weighed something like 5 pounds.
I was in OKC at the time. The home area was basically Oklahoma county and not much more. Outside this home area, there were roaming $$$ ticking up full time plus the per minute charge when actually talking on the blasted thing. This was something like the early 1990s. Was I ever glad to dump that fiasco of a phone.
