What is the difference between a Catholic Confirmation and a Jewish Bar Mitzvah?

The Catholic kids aren't expected to read from and interpret the Torah?

Regards,

1. Catholic children receive the Holy Spirit, just like the Apostles did at Pentecost.

2. Catholic children take on the name of a saint.

When I was confirmed, we all lined up at Mass to approach the bishop. Each of us held an index card in our hand, bearing the name of our chosen saint, so the bishop would know what name to recite as he confirmed us, one by one.

“The Catholic kids aren’t expected to read from and interpret the Torah?”

If they’re reading the pentateuch they’re basically reading the Torah.
