1) Nov 9, 1961 (my dob) a friend from HS came to my off campus room at Wheaton College. I knew he had trained with “I led 3 lives” counter-counter spy in mountains of Colo. I knew he had waved signs “The troops should be in Cuba, not Mississippi” 3 feet from JFK at the Minneapolis airport... with a hand gun visible in his waist band.

He told me the Commies were going to execute a coup d’etat and take over the country from the naive idiot. He was going to Dallas to stop the coup d’etat. He believed in the Constitution. On Nov 9, he knew it would be Dallas.

A couple hundred of his fellow “militia” were all headed to Texas.

I went to far left groups I knew. They had heard the same rumor. Except it was the right that was going to execute the coup d’etat. They were going to Texas heavily armed to stop them.

On that Day in Dallas, there were hundreds of heavily armed “extremists” from both extremes. Yet only 2, or maybe 3, got a shot off. Hundreds of extremists got cold feet.

We know that many agents and informants had infiltrated the organizations of both extremes.... in addition to the Chicago PD Red Squad and other groups selectively cooperated with each other.

Who started and spread the rumor Nov 9 and earlier that it would be in Dalls in November? Was it similar to recent events in Michigan and Jan 6? Were both extremes being “used”?

What is interesting is only 2 or 3 got a shot off. Hundreds did not have the balls (or idiocy) to do anything but slink out of town and keep a low profile. Both extremes disappeared from 61 to 68 it seemed...Totally neutralized by 61.

2) Summer 64 I wrote my draft board “reclassify me 1A. Let’s get it over.” Dec 64 I took my first pre-induction in San Antonio Texas. (After the 64 election I hithhiked thru Mississippi and was now on my way to the border.) It took me 6 or 7 pre-induction events before I finally got drafted in early 67. I became a company clerk and visited the room where the files on us cruits were kept.

Most files were very slim. Mine was very fat. Many letters back and forth from Seattle PD and Feds to Chicago to Mississippi to Texas ... and a few other places. They started off asking the same thing: Do you have any info on target? The responses dated early said “No”. But over time the responses shifted to “We have 3 inquiries from other agencies on target”. Then later dates increased the number to 8 or 13 or whatever, depending on the department.

Not a single one had done a spec of investigation. They could have talked to their undercover agents, but didn’t. They could have openly asked real extremists I associated with questions about me. They could have observed. They did nothing except expect some other department to do the hard work.

Conclusion? I imagine......
