"learnt" is indeed a word. Quite British.

I was stationed in England for a year and a half, I learnt several different usages and spellings in written and spoken English.

How long ago?

Wasn’t a valid spelling in Ireland in the 1970s that I recall. Any other word ending in “-rn” had the suffix “-ed” as the past tense.
