White table sugar (sucrose as you said) is glucose and fructose. Sucrose is a disaccharide consisting of one glucose molecule and one fructose molecule, or 50% glucose and 50% fructose. Glucose is a simple sugar, or monosaccharide. It’s your body’s preferred carb-based energy source. Glucose is not a sweet tasting as sucrose. I used to make a glucose "pixie stick" with Kool Aid powder for a friend with hypoglycemia.
