We bought the Roku box a couple years ago for $30. That’s it. No monthly payments. Almost too many options.
You buy a Roku. No monthly payment. Same with Amazon Fire Stick, which I have. You can then subscribe to streaming services, I have Amazon Prime, Paramount+ and Discovery+. There’s plenty of free ones too like PlutoTV.

The Only thing I do not like about the Roku is they control the thing, changes to software affecting UI are not optional
Ex: Once you could Power Off in the settings, no more.
Rarely, do I approve of what these programmers call improvements!
