You’re right. I can’t speak to what humans did with their dead through the millennia, but I’d be surprised to learn their families tried to grow food on top of the bodies. Death is a stinky and messy business, so the dead have always had their special resting areas away from where day to day life happened, even without the formalities of caskets and cemeteries. I imagine the laws that say we can’t just bury Mom in the back yard also have some sound basis in hygiene and medicine. Composting humans and using them for fertilizer, potentially within months of death, doesn’t seem healthy or wise. YMMV

Buried in the dirt is fine. In fact the idea of trying preserve the dead with chemicals etc is to me utterly barbaric and disgusting. But this NY plan is not simply letting the bodies decompose natural in graveyards. It’s turning the bodies into soil amendments which is offensive and disgusting. My pov for years... As a child in New England, wandering around by myself or on walks with parents, I saw old family grave yards here and there. Respectful and eco-friendly. :-D

While true... there are way too many prescriptions in people than there were 100 yrs ago and more.

I think it’s a nasty idea. I don’t want some diseased corpse in my food treated with God knows what meds. And what about your teeth? Do they get pulled?

And beware... it’s called Natural Organic Reduction. So someone comes up with a catchy name.

It also offsets carbon whatever. In the meantime if you go to Daily Mail you can see all the celebrities who stayed home.. I mean jetted off to warm, sunny places on their private planes and yachts!

I’m beyond sick of all of this. Trying to make us feel guilty for living so now we have to die serving a purpose??

When the rich stop flying in their private jets and going yachting while the rest of us live week to week or day to day, nope, not participating in their nasty ideas.

We need to take some lessons from the Navajos here.
