Democrat Rep. Jaime Raskin on Sunday called the Electoral College a ‘danger to the American people’ during an appearance on CBS’s “Face the Nation.”
“Face the Nation” host Margaret Brennan asked Raskin about the January 6 Committee and the Electoral Count Reform Act that just passed both chambers of Congress as part of the $1.7 trillion Omnibus bill.
“The act also raises the threshold for members of Congress to object to electoral votes and makes it harder for state legislatures or governors to ignore the popular vote when certifying Electoral College votes.” NBC reported.
Raskin slammed the US Constitution on Sunday.
“I think that the Electoral College now, which has given us five popular vote losers as president…twice in this century alone, has become a danger not just to democracy, but to the American people,” Raskin said. Raskin called the Electoral College a danger to the American people and said the Electoral Count Reform Act didn’t go far enough.
The Electoral Count Reform Act makes clear the Vice President’s role in counting the electoral votes is merely ceremonial.
Raskin, a Cosmopolitan elitist representing Maryland, said a US president should be elected by the popular vote.
This way New York and California would elect every president while Americans in flyover country are disenfranchised.
“We should elect the president the way we elect governors, senators, mayors, representatives, everybody else… whoever gets the most votes wins,” Raskin said.

Marxist and Democrat Rep. Jaime Raskin just violated the oath of office taken before assuming the duties and responsibilities of said office.
Without the Electoral College, the U.S. Constitution would not have been ratified, and the United States of America, as we now know it, would not exist.
The way things are trending, I seriously doubt it matters now anyway. Republicans have flipped one state to red, Iowa. Meanwhile, Democrats have flipped Nevada, Colorado, Virginia, and maybe Georgia and and maybe Arizona. North Carolina and Texas may be teetering next.
There already likely is no electoral pathway for Republicans to ever win the White House again.
The danger is Jaime, not our Constitution.
Little Jaime is the greatest danger to the two party system. If the electoral college is thrown out, this craphole becomes a one party, third world, banana republic.
The RATS’ foreign invasion over our southern border by millions of the world’s pieces of human feces guarantees it.
I’d say Jaime Ratskin should be rejected by the American people. The electoral college serves a real purpose & he knows that. If Americans went to civil war because of the electoral college being rejected,Ratskin would be a target.

If Raskin doesn’t like the electoral college, let him try amending the constitution. Unfortunately Democrats just want to set the constitution aside and ignore its provisions. I don’t see that peaceably happening.
That's exactly what it is intended to be, numbskull Raskin! This is a representative republic, not a democracy. The Founders very much wanted a system that would check and balance "popular democracy."

“Democracy” as practiced by the Democrat Socialists, SHOULD be an endangered species. Mob rule should be opposed wherever it appears. Elections have to be controlled as to just who can vote, how those votes are allocated, and where there is a deliberative element in the counting of the votes (which is a very different thing from simply counting ballots).
An overwhelming majority from one state, whether by fraud, disincentivizing the opposition, or having a poorly informed electorate, can by sheer numbers, utterly swamp the judiciously administered and informed vote of half-a-dozen other states. But the astonishingly large margin in one venue is balanced by the collective better tallies in the other states, overcoming to some degree the effects of flash mob voting in the rogue state, where winner of that state’s vote takes all.
