This is the worst part of the Thanksgiving and Christmas, I blame the entertainment industry for a lot of this you have to be home for XMAS and Thanksgiving crap. It is been pushed and ingrained in us since silent movies, books, and radio shows going back well over 100 years. How many people have died trying to get to Grandma’s for a reason that could have waited a little longer with common sense?
It is the same old story, Emotion trips common sense almost every time.
“Pedal to the metal”
So well said. Being home for Thanksgiving and Christmas has become a mass cultural fetish stretching back over a century. This would seem completely alien to our ancestors in the 18th and 19th centuries.
Something is wrong when families feel compelled to disperse all over the country. It used to be normal for families to all live in the same county or town. Why disperse? For a sushi restaurant or Thailand food? Big whoop.
We have Zoom and Teams and facetime. No reason for all this rushing around to make it home for Christmas
So sad.
May the dead rest in peace.
May the injured receive healing.
God bless allthe first responders there, and all over our country this Christmas Eve.
The toll on our highways andbyways will increase hour by hour.
God be with all the rescuers tonight.
The least we can do is get home for Christmas come hook or crook! /sarc
and here have been a billions of successful trips as well... like most acidents, it was probably some 4 wheeler doing excessive slow speed in the hammer lane or some other idiot distraced texting or watching a friggin movie on their navigator screen.
I’m alone most holidays but I sure as hell dont blame those who go out of their way to visit on holidays for the accidents that occur. I blame the stupid people. once upon a time that was what it was all about!! Grinch...
As I see it families should have a plan B if roads and weather are bad for Christmas travel. his was probably the worst one could travel in - such fools!
I have one son coming home this year - he’s 45 minuts away...but we do have a plan B if it’s still bad Sunday.
